How to Torrent in College for Free

College firewalls are the worst. These are useful:

-https://bitport.io/welcome (free for one torrent at a time)

-http://popcorn-time.se/ (turn the free built in VPN on with the lock at top)

-https://put.io/ (99 cents for one day)

-https://streamza.com/ (more expensive)

The Most Helpful Quotes from Creativity, Inc.

You are not your idea, and if you identify too closely with your ideas, you will take offense when they are challenged.

To set up a healthy feedback system, you must remove power dynamics from the equation—you must enable yourself, in other words, to focus on the problem, not the person.

“fail early and fail fast” and “be wrong as fast as you can.”

There’s a quick way to determine if your company has embraced the negative definition of failure. Ask yourself what happens when an error is discovered. Do people shut down and turn inward, instead of coming together to untangle the causes of problems that might be avoided going forward? Is the question being asked: Whose fault was this? If so, your culture is one that vilifies failure. Failure is difficult enough without it being compounded by the search for a scapegoat.

The first two years of a movie’s development should be a time of...

Why Are You Watching?

As a House of Cards fan, I started Season 3 with eagerness. That eagerness quickly dissipated. I’m not going to read the reviews until I’m finished with the whole season, but I wanted to share my initial thoughts an episode and a half in.

My impression is that the show lost a compelling narrative, and the drive that most shows on TV employ.

The question you need to think about when crafting entertainment is Why are people watching this? What keeps them engaged?

One of my favorite shows, Person of Interest is admittedly fairly shallow and formulaic – but it’s good TV. Why? Because it’s very clear on keeping engagement front and center.

I watched S03E01 and the question that went through my head the entire time was “Why am I watching this?”

There was no force that compelled me to keep going, and I’m worried now. Worried that the drop off in quality from Seasons 1 & 2 will...

“Media Production”

Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 7.57.20 PM.png

If you’re here because you’re wondering what media I’ve produced, sorry. Right now, most of my work is under various aliases. Revealing them would blow my cover. As an international spy.

Maybe in the future, folks.

A Town Where Everyone Gets an iPhone

Everyone would have an iPhone with TouchID.

First, there could be a voting app linked to fingerprints. Everyone gets to vote on their phone, easily and securely.

Credit card theft, etc is no longer an issue with Apple Pay.

I could write more, but I want to hear what you think the best possibilities are.

Thoughts on the WATCH

First off, terrible name. But that’s besides the point.

In 2007, the iPhone came along out of nowhere and completely changed what smartphones did. It was a paradigm shift that catapulted the industry forward.

The WATCH isn’t that. It’s pretty jewelry with a neat communication feature. It’s not something I see changing much, simply because it’s designed for the fashion industry.

The hive-like UI is neat, but I’m not sure it’ll be great IRL. The communication system of drawing looks cool, but it’ll be used exclusively by the wealthy – those who have plenty of money to waste. That platform doesn’t appear to crossover to other Apple devices.

I’m not excited about the WATCH, but hopefully Apple will change that.

The Best Waterbottle

I’ve had about ten different water bottles, and they’ve all had massive flaws. Here’s my opinion about the best bottle out there now.

The Opening

The opening of a water bottle should be small, no more than the size of a quarter. Large lipped bottles make it harder to drink, and usually result in water spilling on you.

Nalgene realized this and implemented a crappy solution involving a plastic piece to place on top. I prefer the simpler solution: a small opening – like a regular SmartWater bottle.

The Lid

The lid has to protect the mouth of the bottle. Tossed in a bag, sediments have a tendency to cover the place where your mouth touches.

Sigg doesn’t properly cover the lid, and neither do most of Kleen Kanteens. I did find one Kleen Kanteen with a wide mouth, but the bottle sweats and is quite large:

The Future of Amazon

Imagine the future of Amazon.

I see a warehouse in every city, equipped with a 3D printer and a machine that prints books, with customizable quality. Basic household staples will also be present.

Perhaps there will even be a garden.

At this point, Amazon will also be running the shipping aspect of the business. Perhaps UPS will be acquired and run alongside a small drone program.

The future of Amazon is bright.

A Visit With An Old Person’s iPhone

I recently encountered a relative with some iPhone troubles. She didn’t have any space left on the phone.

Not only were all her photos taking up space, but iOS automatically installed applications her kids downloaded.

Apple’s fixing these two major problems with iOS 8. iCloud Backup will take care of your photos, and remove the original files from your phone.

iTunes will enable family account linking, to create a semblance of order.

My question – will the average person figure out the multiple account feature? (NO.)

Apple Geniuses: learn how to set that up, because that’s what you should be doing for every single person who walks in.
